Add an option to disable the "left click and drag upwards" menu

Anonymous 12 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 12 years ago 0

If you left click and hold the mouse button down on any application on the taskbar, and then drag upwards, it opens a quick menu. (for an application pinned but not running, for example: "<appname>" and "Unpin this program from taskbar" appear).

This is just bothersome, because half the time I'll go to click (for example) firefox to bring it to the front, and accidentally hold down the mouse button for a moment too long. By the time I've let go of the button, the mouse has moved up just enough to be over the "Close window" option and.. well, it closes my window. Gets annoying when I accidentally close a window with 15 Fireox tabs open. An option to remove this menu would be absolutely fantastic. Thanks!

Such option already exists:

"Don't show jump list when dragging a taskbar item towards the desktop"

If the 'show seconds' option doesn't affect how Windows shows the time in other places, then . . do the same for day of the week?

Presently, getting that on the taskbar means getting it everywhere else , , Very annoying. So if you could hack that, it would be great. Cheers.

Answer

Hi!

There's a registry option to disable jump lists that appear by dragging.

Set the following DWORD value to 1:
Branch:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker\OptionsEx
Name:
jump_list_drag_disable

Update: v4.2 has a checkbox for disabling jump lists that appear by dragging.

Поведение нажатой левой кнопки мыши в панели задач как в WinXP

Anonymous 13 years ago 0

When starting 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, an error message appears "could not load programming library (107)" and the app runs, but it does not modify/interact with the taskbar.

Double click on a taskbar icon to launch a new instance of the related program

Anonymous 13 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 11 years ago 5

Scenario: there's a program icon in the taskbar (either pinned or not pinned).

To open a second instance of that program one can now right-click on its icon, wait for the Jump List to open, click on the program "mini"-icon inside it.

A simpler way could be to just double-click the program icon in the taskbar with the left mouse button.

Answer
First, you can also use Shift + click.

Second, doing it with a double click is possible with the Mouse Button Control Advanced options:
Name: taskbaritem|ldblclick
Value: 4

See help for more info about the Mouse Button Control options.
