Crash and Recovery bug?

Anonymous 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 2

There is a bug for me for the option: disable_taskbar_transparency, which keeps reset itself to the value of 1 whenever any of these happened:

  • The windows services for dwm and the service called Theme, i believe get restart manually, or "crash" and restart due to out of memory etc.
  • Possible forced AERO to be off
  • Possible modified registry entry to force AERO on, as well as modified timeouts etc..

PS Need more tests on can't auto set taskbar width after booting when using dual screens etc. to investigate into the recovery of settings to the explorer hooks...

to prohibit system go to sleep mode

Евгений Расторгуев 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 1

Hi! It`s very useful program for me, thank you for that! I have the suggestion - i think it is not difficult for you to add a function for change keys in Windows registry to prohibit system go to sleep mode, if you dont mind. Best regards!

Answer

Sorry, but it's unrelated to the taskbar and is out of scope.

there's no way to tell the difference between two groups

Anonymous 3 years ago 0

after decombine and/or ungrouping because of clicking the never of both group and group pinned items in the inspector, the items splited into serveral group would have the exact same application ID if they are opened through the same method by the explorer etc.., with which having no difference to tell them apart whenever another changes in the ID needed to make, or to group back. With this to say, anything ungrouping shoud be immediately assigned with a random_group_# so that they can be identical to each other in terms of the ID.

PS interesting behaviour related to ungrouping that could be addressed in the further future...

"The Taskbar in Windows 11 is very limited compared to the one in Windows 11, currently there is no native way to ungroup the taskbar icons and the drag and drop function is also missing. The good news is, Microsoft have listened to the Insiders that tested Windows 11 and they are now testing that functionality and so we should receive that in ..."

pls consider to add...

1/ randomaize a whole group of items together into a random_group_#.

2/ allow rename of groups and possbilely windows' names.

3/ allow to save and reload the snapshots of the current postition of grouped/pined items.

Thank you!

Request: Please add option to disable pinned apps get "widen" when running

Anonymous 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 3

when pinned app running, it will have "underline" light color and get slightly "widen". When widen it will cause the others pinned apps shifted from it's exact beginning position. Happened frequently, when I want to open the last pinned app (on the most right) it now shifted to the left in second row taskbar, what a too far away and slowing down. Nevertheless, I wrote this (maybe) in impulsive without thinking further.. I don't know what the experience if it not widen. Thanks for 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, regards.

Combine status got overwrited?

Anonymous 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 6

Task

The combine status of the items should not get overwrite as a change is made in the taskbar properties, anything from the always combine and never combine to the obnoxious combine when the taskbar is full? I am saying so or requesting to apply the combining permanently through the taskbar inspector because once the above change is getting applied, the status keeps getting reset to not combine no matter how do you set the combine status beforehand or afterward in it. Anyway, pls allow the combine setting within a group of items to be permanent, otherwise the whole thing is pointless if it keeps reset like this. And, it's counter-intuitive that only the label display is not affected by such change.

[Enhancement] "Cycle through windows" should have a consistent, controllable order in which it cycles

Twisted_Code 3 years ago updated 3 years ago 3

Expected behavior: the order in which "cycle through Windows" cycles should be consistent and preferably controllable. One option is to make it use the order of the windows in the window preview, since that can be reordered using one of the other options

actual behavior: the order starts out based on the order in which windows were created, but sometimes changes for a reason I'm unable to determine, and therefore unable to control.

note that I consider this an enhancement since it still technically cycles as described. It's just not very consistent about the order!

Other than this the app works great! Where can I donate? :-)

search in start menu does not work each time (~50% times it does not work)

Dennis 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 5

steps to reproduce:

- ensure 7tt is up and running

- press start button (or windows key on KB)

- start typing: cmd

=> nothing happens (i.e. it supposed to show "cmd" in search field and show results corresponding to "cmd")

- press start again and once again

- start typing: cmd

- it writes "cmd" and shows search results

it reproduces already really long time - more than a year afair so many 7tt versions are affected as well as many windows versions

some details below:

The old 'could not load library' error, on Windows 10 21H1 2009

Mr K Smith 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 26

Thank you for your software.

On Windows 10 Pro - 21H1 (2009: 19043), the tweaker tells me: 'could not load library [. .] perhaps your Windows version is not supported'. I see that error message on every tweaker build that I have tried since (after) 5.11.2.1 beta. Admittedly though I have not tried all of the intervening builds. I do not think that my Windows build is a particularly new one and indeed I think that I had the same problem on older builds on Windows. (Also, it would be handy were the tweaker's build number copyable from the window in which it displays.)

Answer

Fixed in v5.13.
