[Feature idea] Sort tasks in Taskbar by a user defined order instead of the order in which the programs were started

Anonym 4 år siden opdateret 3 år siden 2

Current situation

When no applications are pinned to the taskbar and applications are started/launched by the user, they appear in the Taskbar and are sorted in the Taskbar by the order in which they were started.

Example

Let's assume a user has three applications named "B", "F" and "Z" installed on his computer and non of these apps are pinned to the Taskbar. Then the user launches the three applications in this order "Z", "F" and "B". The result is that the programs appear in the Taskbar in such a way that "Z" is the leftmost/first item in the Taskbar, "F" is in the middle and "B" is the last/rightmost item.

A fixed order that determines where and in which particular order the applications appear in the taskbar can only be achieved by pinning the applications to the Taskbar. (But pinning items to the Taskbar can waste a lot of space.)

Problem with this situation

Users launch their applications in different orders: Sometimes they launch "Z" first, sometimes they launch "F" first and so on. This brings the confusing result that in the Taskbar the applications always appear in different places / orders. So when switching between applications, user's first have to search with their eye where the running application is now located.

Feature idea and benefits

Please include a functionality in 7+ Taskbar Tweaker that allows users to assign custom order for applications in the Taskbar. This could be a list in which users could add applications ("B.exe", "F.exe", and "Z.exe"  for example) and assign a number to each application like "F.exe" = 1, "Z.exe" = 2 and "B.exe" = 3.

Result

The result would be that the applications would always appear in the order "F" in the first place/leftmost, "Z" in the middle and "B" in the rightmost place in the Taskbar, no matter in which the user has launched them. All the other applications that are not included in this list always get sorted behind the rightmost item from the list (just like Taskbar does it now by sorting all non-pinned applications right of the pinned ones.)

Benefits

Makes finding and switching between applications in the Taskbar faster because users know (or can anticipate) where they sit. And users can use muscle memory to move the mouse cursor to the desired items (like to the Startbutton that always sits in the left bottom corner.)

If anyone in the world could pull that off, then this would probably be you, RaMMicHaeL!

Option to change volume step

Mik Tilk 5 år siden opdateret af Michael (Ramen Software) 4 år siden 7

Hi.

This program is great! Thanks a lot for it.

I'd like to have a possibility to change manually volume step on your app. For example - now it changes by 3, but I want to change it by 10 always via your app.

Done in v5.10.1.

Feature request: Alter appearance of taskbar items for minimized windows

Tom Honermann 9 år siden opdateret af xpclient . 4 år siden 1

I'd like to have an option to alter the appearance of taskbar items for windows that are minimized similar to the support in KDE. See [1] for an example screenshot, the grayed out items correspond to minimized windows.

I find this useful when switching between tasks throughout the day; I minimize the windows unrelated to the task I'm currently working on, but leave them open to return to later. I find this simpler and less of a cognitive disruption than managing virtual desktops.

shought 11 år siden 0

I would like to see a feature which would hide time/date strings in taskbar, i.e when using large taskbar icons it shows a date string too, I would like to hide date string via 7+TT and only show time string or opposite.

First use of "Show desktop" after launch 7+ Taskbar Tweaker with enabled "Disable_topmost' removes taskbar, taskbar returns after action with taskbar, like Start menu that hides him or opening new window.

Possibility to always expand groups with more than 1 item and show their labels

Anonym 12 år siden opdateret af Michael (Ramen Software) 4 år siden 6

It would be really great to have the possibility to always expand groups with more than 1 item and show their labels  (like the option to expand groups when active and/or on mouse-over).
Additionaly it would be perfect to only expand/show labels if the taskbar isn't full (maybe as explicit option?) and "iconize"/group them as soon as the taskbar is full...

I attached a screenshot. With this feature the explorer-group would also be expanded like the one of firefox but the rest should stay iconized:

Integrate Taskbar numberer into Taskbar tweaker

Anonym 12 år siden opdateret 6 år siden 1
First, thanks you for your useful tools
I think you should integrate Taskbar numberer into Taskbar tweaker as options. Because not many people know about Taskbar numberer which is very useful. And it's more convenient for users to download and use only one tool
