That's the option I already have set. Looks like it's the default.
I couldn't reproduce it. I disabled my sound device, and scrolling over the taskbar launched the Windows troubleshooter. That happens since the feature simulates a click on the volume control icon, and it launches the troubleshooter when no sound devices are available.
What happens on your laptop when you click on the volume control icon? Also, can you make a screenshot of the mostly black window?
What's the build number of your Windows 10? Are you using the latest beta version of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker? Do you have an access code for the experimental support for version 1903?
7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.6.2.3 beta should fix this.
Relevant (for Windows 10):

Done in v5.6.2.3 beta, please try it out.
It's possible by using the tray_icons_padding advanced option, which is available for Windows 10 since 7+ Taskbar Tweaker v5.2.
Probably a duplicate of this:
If not and if still relevant, please let me know.
Works for me. See the attached gif.

The implementation of hiding the icon is very simple, and I don't remember other users reporting issues with it. Can you try to find a way to reproduce it? Perhaps another program on your computer conflicts with it?
