5.2.1.1 Beta - Remove Gap between items not working

svs95 8 years ago updated 8 years ago 10

In current beta (and previous version, which is why I downloaded the beta, in hopes this was fixed), the feature "Remove extra gap between items" does not work unless I open the 7+ console. Just opening from the System Tray it is enough to make it work.

I have it set to start with Windows, and I give it plenty of time. It just will not do anything until I manually open the app.

Under review

Is it only the Remove Gap between items option, or does the issue apply for all of the options?

Please open Task Manager on the Startup tab, and verify that 7+ Taskbar Tweaker is set to run at startup, and it not disabled.

That's the most visible feature, and the one that bothers me when it doesn't work, so that's when I open the app to make it work. So I can't answer your first question.

But as to your second question, how would your (functional) icon get into the System Tray if launch at startup is disabled? The fact that it populates the System Tray at Windows startup tells me that it's not disabled. Also, I have checked the Task Manager list, and it does show "enabled."

So I can't answer your first question.

You can enable more features and check it. I need as much information as possible to be able to help you.

I wanted to make sure, as I didn't entirely understand your formulation (e.g. "7+ console", when you probably meant the main 7+ Taskbar Tweaker window).

Also, please check whether you're using an inside build of Windows 10. Insider builds are not supported by the tweaker.

OS version 1607 build 14393.321 -- publicly released through Windows Update to standard users, not insiders.

See if you can replicate this issue, as it's 100% reproducible here. If not, I can further investigate this end

I tried it on a WIndows 10, and it worked as expected for me.

In general, it's weird that opening the tweaker's window fixes it for you, as it should have no effect beyond just showing the window.

Upon further experimentation, it appears to be working, but on a very long delay. IOW, about a minute after I have access to the desktop. Can that delay be adjusted?

Not a bug

No, not with the tweaker. The option should be applied the moment 7+ Taskbar Tweaker is launched, but the startup time is determined by the system. It can be as late as several seconds or minutes after the desktop appears, depending on the number of startup application.

I'm closing the issue as it doesn't look like a bug of the tweaker.

Is there a way to change the order of items in the system startup?

Uninstall (including settings) and reinstall solved the problem. Takes only seconds to work now, once desktop is reached. Some file must've gotten corrupted.
