Reserve Space On Taskbar or Shorten Taskbar

Anonymous 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 4
An option to reserve space at the end of the taskbar so it's possible to place Rainmeter or similar widgets over the taskbar without covering tray icons. I gave up on the Windows clock and made my own with Rainmeter. Also thinking about using it for Network, Volume, etc instead of the bad windows tray icons and being able to place them on top of the taskbar would be ideal.

This idea or something related may very well be the best solution for the many people asking for better various tray icons. Rainmeter works extremely well for those things, and is actually very simple, and lightweight. Just need a way to integrate it into the taskbar or taskbar area.
Wouldn't it be more logical for Rainmeter to provide such functionality?
Anyway, what you want is the "Reserve empty space on taskbar" option, but with a customizable width?
Yes, just a setting for how many pixels of space between the tray area and the end of the bar would be good.

I'm not really sure which would be better to provide the integration or exactly how to do it, but I figured I would put the concept out there and maybe somebody would come up with something better. Especially since people are interested in better Volume, Network, CPU, etc tray icons/indicators which doesn't really seem related to 7+TT.
As a work around you could create an empty toolbar (select an empty folder) that would give you as much space as you want by moving it around the taskbar.
It won't work, you can't move toolbars to the right of the tray area.
