I believe that it was fixed in v4.5.10!
Thanks everyone for helping me to solve this long-standing bug.
Does the tweaker itself crash, or does explorer crash? Can you provide a crash report?
How do I find event logs when a program crashes?
Hi, same issue here with Win7 Pro 32.
(something like 50% of the time when I wake the computer)

Unfortunately, the crash report is not very helpful.
I tried to reproduce it locally, putting the system to sleep multiple times, but the tweaker doesn't crash on my PC.
Do you have a way to reproduce it?
Also, does it crash if you turn off the update checking feature?
Hi RaMMichHael,

I tried but could not find a way to reproduce it consistently. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes not ...
I'll turn off the update checker and let you know in a few days whether it still crashes on wake or not.

Thomas
Hi again,
Did not have any crash since I turned off the update checker. Good chances it is related, then.

Win 7 Pro (64) SP1
I'm also reporting 7TT crashing when machine awakenes. Also, does not happen after every wakeup. Today, for the first time, I got a "7TT stopped running" Microsoft error popup on the wakeup. Unfortunately, I didn't think about saving a copy, or noting the locations of, the error report files that were sent to Microsoft. It wasn't until later that I thought to check this forum to see whether anyone else was reporting this problem.

I'll keep Update Check enabled and save copies of the error report files sent to Microsoft if that Stopped Running popup occurs again.
Hi! Thank you very much for this wonderful program, it makes Windows 7 much more pleasant to use.
This bug happens to me often too. 7TT sometimes crashes when resuming from suspend on Windows 7 x64. Explorer does not crash and I can just run 7TT again. Update checking is enabled. I also use Classic Shell, I don't know if it could be related.

I get a crash all 1-2 days. Sometimes after resuming, sometimes while browsing.

I noticed it the first time after the 4.5 update.

Maybe it's something for this thread:

All I know is that it's caused by the updater mechanism. Unfortunately, the crash report doesn't provide many details, as the code is asynchronous. If you can come up with a way to reproduce the issue, please let me know, I'd really like to fix it.
Same here, Win 7, X64. Will turn off the updater, then.
Thank you for a good and useful program!

Here's what I know about the issue:
* It seems to happen only on Windows 7, according to the reports.
* It's related to the networking activity of the update checking. Turning update checking off seems to fix the issue.
* The issue seems to show up when the PC runs for a long time without restarts.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a way to reproduce the crash reliably. Also, stack traces don't provide enough information, as the crash happens in a system module.
Yes, I am also running Windows 7, and I don't usually restart for sometimes more than a month. I use hibernation and not sleeping. I don't have update checking on and I've only had the issue a couple of times since I started using it around the end of August, 2014.
I don't have update checking on
That's unexpected. So you disabled update checking, and you still experience crashes? Could you post a crash report?
Win7 x64 Home Premium
I have update checking on; would a crash dump from WinDbg help? I can grab one the next time it crashes.
It might help. It surely won't hurt, so please grab it.
Also, could you try running the latest beta version and see whether it makes any difference?
It finally (!) crashed ealier today, and I just uploaded the full minidump here: https://copy.com/p8DGLidlxRbSRhY6l
Running v4.5.8.6 beta.
Thanks, but I'm not able to download the file. What I see is a page which is mostly blank.
Could you upload it to a different place, or email it to me?
Just sent you the Dropbox link.
Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit all Microsoft updates applied, stand-alone home desktop. Update to my March 15, 2014 initial comment: I didn't note the 7TT version I was running when the "crash on wakeup" problem appeared, but from the Change Log page, apparently it was Ver. 4.4.6 of Feb. 22, 2014 because I've always updated as soon as I saw the notice of a new production version. I've kept Update Checking on and I haven't experienced this "crash on wakeup", or any other crash problem, since Ver 4.5.0 or 4.5.1.

Thank you for your beautiful little program which, for me, discounting this short-term blip, has been very stable.
Just regular anti-bug-report (maybe it will help you somehow):
Windows 7 SP1 x86 (32-bit) + Windows Update turned on (auto-update critical + recommended).
7TT's update checking turned on, each update is installed immediately (or almost) after came.
Using Sleep state regularly and don't restart Windows for a weeks (sometimes don't restart for days/a couple of weeks even after critical windows updates requiring restart).
Don't use Hibernation / Hybrid sleep at all (I can't, there are obstacles).
Have not experienced this "crashes on wakeup" at all. Never saw it.

Thank you for this wonderful superb tool! The most amazing tool for tweaking appearance of Windows 7.
The issue could have been fixed in v4.5.10, but I can't tell for sure, as it's not easy to reproduce.
