Start pinned item task away from pinned item group and after rightmost opened task
For Windows 10, when opening a pinned item, don't open it with/on it's icon but in normal order after the rightmost opened task. ie, after the task closest to the tray. For programs that can have multiple instances of itself open, it's more convenient and faster to just click the pinned item again vs from within the program or using a key combo.

If I understand correctly, the option you're looking for is "Don't group pinned items". Please let me know if you meant something else.
No. I thought I explained it. I don't know how to better explain it.without images. I just upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and the way I suggested is the way it works in Win7, what I'm used to. I'd just like that functionality back, unless it's not possible in Win10.
I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what you mean. Please post images or a video to better explain what you mean.
I think what Cory Wipk means is to open a pinned item to the right of the last item in the taskbar.
Normally pinned items open in the same location/position that they are pinned.
Example of what I think is described ( "[program name]" indicates a running program ):
Normal state:
[Chrome] [Calculator] [Notepad, pinned-closed] [Firefox]
When "[Notepad, pinned-closed]" is clicked, it should then be:
[Chrome] [Calculator] [Notepad, pinned-closed] [Firefox] [Notepad, instance 1]
When "[Notepad, pinned-closed]" is clicked again and it supports multple instances, it should then be:
[Chrome] [Calculator] [Notepad, pinned-closed] [Firefox] [Notepad, instance 1] [Notepad, instance 2]
.
How is that different to what happens with the "Don't group pinned items" option?
'Don't group pinned items' to me meant don't group pinned items together at all. Is 'Don't group pinned opened items together' clearer?
What does "don't group pinned items together at all" mean? The help file describes the option in more details, and provides an example.
From the help file:
Don't group pinned items
Every pinned item has an Application ID, just like the taskbar buttons. By default, when a taskbar button with the same Application ID as the pinned item is created, it replaces the pinned item. This option makes the taskbar button show up at the end of the taskbar, while the pinned item stays untouched
For example, you have a pinned item of Notepad:
By default, when you create a Notepad window, you get:
With this option set, you get:
Note
It's possible to control pinned item grouping per Application ID using Taskbar Inspector.
Yes, this is what I'm suggesting. I don't know why I didn't think to exemplify it like that.
Great, so I did understand it correctly when I closed the topic the first time.
Yes this is what I meant. I hadn't thought to describe it this way. Thx for making it more clearer.
