saving taskbar

twin55 6 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 6 years ago 14

I do not know why the taskbar gets set in the tweaker, then I don't sign out but suddenly its changed back, is there no way to save my setting? specifically i changed the value for icons to be larger by using advanced settings.  then I clicked on lock taskbar in windows 10.  But it does not save the tweaker settings... so I don't know what to do.  Please advise steps.

I don'r exactly get what you mean by "then I don't sign out".

Tweaker settings are always loaded into the Explorer Process when starting tweaker.exe. When you exit tweaker it's unloaded from the Process and settings won't be active anymore.

You need to run tweaker all the time while logged in to your system.

I meant I am not logging off computer.  How do I Run it all the time? leave it open in system tray? I have done that, but it shuts off after awhile and my settings go with it. I open it and then do my tweak and leave it in place, then even minimizing the tweaker, and trying to let it stay open does not leave my tweak in place.  So is there a way to do that? I dont know any other way to 'run it all the time'... can you advise?

settings are stored in registry, Maybe an anti-virus program prevents it from doing so?

Just leave it in the tray area to have the settings active

Well I do leave it in the tray, but settings do not stay active, can't afford to turn off my anti virus, to use program.  Maybe some other way to get it to stay in place/ some saving?

Can you please upload a video that demonstrates how the settings are being reset? That might provide a hint of what's going on.

as you see I open and then have my tweak of bigger icon task bar and then after awhile even though software is open /but minimized, it just reverts and the tweaker software closes, but it might be seconds later or minutes later.

The upload didn't work. Try to upload it to a service such as https://www.filedropper.com/

I tried multiple times and still cant' upload, but essentially, I am saying that I open this software, click on advanced options, get the bigger taskbar font.  and a(a) go out of app and for awhile this change stays in place, then reverts to smaller icons and the program closes.  Or I leave your program open and minimized and  still it closes itself and reverts at some point, maybe seconds or minutes later.  I would like to know steps to open program make changes and SAVE it somewhere in there, then close out and keep it in place.

That obviously shouldn't happen, the tweaker shouldn't just close by itself. If that's actually what's happening, perhaps it's being killed by an antivirus program. Which antivirus are you using? Perhaps whitelisting the tweaker will solve the issue. Also, you might want to look at the logs of the antivirus and see whether the tweaker is mentioned.

I am using Webroot Secure Anywhere.  I don't know how to whitelist, sorry, maybe you can give me steps? I saw something in the log showing it was monitoring this, and I clicked on allow, but its still closing out.

addendum: Update: I turned off antivirus and still it happened.  so I now think its not the antivirus, as it happened when I shut down antivirus.  I have windows 10 and its a new thing, but not sure how to tweak it to make this work.

It's very difficult for me to help you with a "it just shuts down" problem without any other clues. Please, at least try to get me a demonstration video. If that's simlper, you can email it to me. My email can be found here:

Ok, I believe I just emailed video through mail drop.  I did try uninstalling and reinstalling program, no joy.  I hope the video comes through.  It will only show I open program and I can't do 4-6 minute videos so I can't show how suddenly it goes back to what it was before I changed the taskbar using program.

The video didn't arrive. I got the mail, but the link didn't work. Please try again, otherwise I have a hard time helping you blindly without knowing what's going on.
