Add option to disable "minimize window" when clicking already active window

Anonymous 9 years ago updated 3 months ago 11
Because of the bad design of Windows7/8 UI the active window is hard to see on the taskbar. There is just not enough difference between the active window and all the other windows currently visible. (I usually have 10-12 windows opened at the same time.)
It would be great if you could add an option to disable the minimization of any window when being clicked on the taskbar. This still leaves the option to minimize the window by clicking the minimize button on the top right window border.

That's already possible by using advanced options.
Open the Advanced Options Editor (more details), and add the following value to Mouse Button Control:
Name: taskbaritem|lclick
Value: 1

See the help file for more details.

Wow, 7tt is really cool... Going to send a donation immediately....

I had no luck finding the Advanced Options Editor on Win 10. But I managed to add the necessary registry entry manually. Worked great. My donation is on the way.

Add this. . . Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7 Taskbar Tweaker\Mouse Button Control\taskbaritem|lclick

and give it the value 1

Hi Wally,

Thank you for the donation! You can access the Advanced Options Editor from the tray icon menu:

Fabio

thanks a bunch
i had to make this because app that im using is minimizing to tray when i double click it and i dont want that.
however i still would like to be able to minimize window on another click, just not to tray.
may i ask if its possible to make so that on middle click it will do what left click it was doing on taskbar?
i'm using windows 10

You can configure middle click to minimize the window.

Thank you! From the time I installed Win 10 I was frustrated and irritated with this behavior of windows. Now, after 5 years, you set me free! milan
