Give me the search icon back not the big search box
Now that Microsoft has disabled the ability in build 1607 to select a search icon instead of a search box and turn Cortana off altogether, can this be handled by 7+ ?

It seems like the option is still there in the new build.
Perhaps you were referring to something else?
After your answer I did some more research. I have 8 machines with Windows 10. ( 5 Pro and 3 Home Premium) It seems that some exhibit the screen you showed me and others would only show Cortana after 1607 update. "How-to-geek" website has an article that shows how to handle this via reg edit on Home Premium and Group Policy edit on pro. This solves the problem but might be worth considering as a 7+ checkbox. The reg key is called "AllowCortana" Also an article in general circulation about "16 Windows Anniversary Update Issues & How to Fix Them" This is mentioned there also.

OK, good to know that you have found a solution. It probably won't be added to 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, but I'll leave the suggestion open so that other users could leave feedback.
