Taskbar keeps changing size when I switch desktop between monitors

treetoon 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 1

I do a lot of desktop switching between monitors, particularly a 4K TV and a 1080p monitor. When in 4K, Windows activates the scaling function which completely throws off and resizes the taskbar (i have it on the left side) to its default wider size. Any way to get 7+ Taskbar Tweaker to resize my taskbar back as small as possible every time I switch?

Thanks

These tips will help u in developing better programs...

1.Think completely and that too at once and work,as little thinking causes mistakes.

2.If u add a new feature or update an existing feature think of all the ways of how it can be improved

3.Increase patience, this makes even difficult work easier to do.

4.Avoid laziness in work

5.Do important work first

Memorize the 3rd and 4th

"Middle click to close" on a Windows 10 App causes the app to close and reopen

Diego Muñoz 3 years ago updated 3 years ago 5

I've seen this bug in several versions of 7+ Taskbar Tweaker. If middle click option is set to Close and you middle click on a Windows 10 App (e.g.: Settings, Calculator, Mail) taskbar icon, the app closes but almost every time it reopens immediately, and if you middle click again it does this for one or two more times until it finally closes.

Fixed in v5.10.

Automatic support for new windows insider builds

Jean 3 years ago updated by Michael (Ramen Software) 3 years ago 1

Hello, there is a way to make this work automatically on new windows insider build?

I'm a insider and every time windows update your app stop work (Could not load library)

There is a way to recompile dll or add an option to force run at my risk, something like this?

I use others explorer extensions and that other not break when windows insider update.

I use the latest beta, i'm donator.

Thanks in advance.

Answer

Hi Jean,

Unfortunately, that's not possible, at least not without adding a complex code instrumentation system to analyze Explorer's code. The tweaker relies on internal offsets inside Explorer, which have to be updated once they change. Those offsets didn't change at all back in the Windows 7 days when the tweaker was created, but today things move quickly, and almost each new Windows 10 version, released twice a year, breaks the tweaker. The matter with insider builds is even worse. Not every new insider build breaks the tweaker, but it happens rather often.

add an option to force run at my risk

That's what already happens. Every time you see a "could not load library" error, that means that the tweaker actually tried to run, but failed. Sometimes it causes explorer to crash, and sometimes the tweaker can detect that something's wrong (e.g. an invalid pointer) and abort gracefully.

I use others explorer extensions and that other not break when windows insider update

The tweaker has deeper integration with Explorer, and relies on internals that other tools usually don't rely on.

I use the latest beta, i'm donator

Thank you for the support!

Integrate transparency settings

slm 3 years ago 0

There is a nice open-source (MIT license) tool, which can make taskbar customized/tweaked, but the main feature we like is that it can make taskbar transparent at any degree.

also has some other nice features.

Please integrate it within your application.

At this moment, I have to run 2 programs (7+ tweaker and that)  24 hrs in tray.  If you integrate, i will only need to run your app.

Problem with new Windows build

Windows 10 updated this week and I am now unable to use Tweaker. It says I have an unsupported Windows build. I have uninstalled Tweaker twice. Any solutions?

"library initialization failed" but it was working fine when Windows initially booted?

Twisted_Code 4 years ago updated 2 years ago 5

first of all, I don't know if this has already been reported because I tried clicking some of the similar topics but can't seem to read them on my browser. Apologies if this is a duplicate. Basically, it's the same old "library initialization failed. Perhaps your Windows version is not supported"... except I haven't updated Windows since the last time it was working. In fact, it was working fine until after I restarted Explorer just now. Why did restarting Explorer suddenly cause it to break? I know Windows updates are usually the culprit for this error, but I've never had it happen where I've seen this error without having just installed a new version of Windows. Certainly never seen it in the same login session where it was just working prior. I'm going to try a reboot right after I post this, but I thought I should let you know nonetheless that something might be broken, even if that happens to fix it (and I've got enough experience developing/poweruser-ing to know it very well might...).
If you need any sort of diagnostic information from me, let me know. My Windows version is Windows 10 home edition, version 2004, build 19041.508, installed on the 16th of September.
