Right-clicking icon and then right-clicking task bar will cause Windows Explorer to crash

Anonymous 10 years ago updated 10 years ago 10
This is every time. If you right-click on any task bar icon and, while the window is still open, right-click on the open task bar area, the explorer will crash and reset any reordering of windows done. This sucks. Love the product, though, just wish it didn't crash every time I miss-clicked.

Fixed in v4.4.6.2 beta.

I can't reproduce the issue.
Please provide more details, such as:
  • A crash report.
  • A screenshot.
  • Your OS version.
  • Your configuration of the tweaker.
  • Your configuration of the taskbar (Taskbar Properties).
It seems that the issue is available only in windows 8 or 8.1.
I checked the same in Windows 7 and the issue does not exist.
Correction for the above post: The issue appears in windows 7, too. The test that I performed in the Windows 7 pc was 7.2.6 and the issue is not present in this version.
Installing the new version 7.4, the issue is there.
I can't reproduce it on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
Please see my reply above.

Hi,
In order to reproduce you need to have selected the option "Combined group buttons".
After that right-click on a group of windows and when the menu is open, click on any other place of the taskbar.
I could reproduce the issue.
Please try the most recent beta:

Just popping in to say that I was experiencing a similar problem as well (right-clicking a group and then clicking blank space on the task bar would crash/reset explorer), but the beta v4.4.6.2 seems to have cleared it up.
